Going on vacation with a baby can be pretty intimidating your first time. I know plenty of people who just say screw it! We are major beach people and decided that having a baby was not going to change that. I was determined!
Here are a few tricks I figured out that helped my little guy be more comfortable during our vacation and in turn, made it much more enjoyable for my husband and I, as well! As a parent, when little man is happy, all is right in the world.
These silicone pacifier clips are an absolute must have when spending time with your little person playing in the sand. He’s still dropping his toys all the time and I was not about to try to wash sand out of his mouth every three minutes. We moved these clips back and forth from his pacifiers to toys. (I think we’re actually going to buy more to avoid having to switch them around so much!) Having these clips made it super easy for him to play and explore without us panicking every time he let go of his toys.
If you’re a bottle feeding mama, these next two tips are definitely for you! Formula is heavy and the containers are bulky. We knew we wanted to spend our days out at the beach but didn’t want to run back and forth to the room for feedings every three hours. So, I measured out a day's worth of formula into a plastic baggie. The game changer was to double bag it. I put the formula into the first baggie, sealed it up. Then I put the formula baggie and the measuring spoon into the second baggie. Keeping the measuring spoon separated from the formula made it SO much easier to keep clean and contained.
My little one insists on warm milk, which poses a challenge at the beach without a bottle warmer. When I found this triple-layered, vacuum-sealed soup thermos, my mind was blown! We pre-filled with hot water, and it kept his bottles warm throughout our beach day. While the S’well thermos is a bit pricey, cheaper alternatives fell short in comparison. Investing in quality truly paid off!
These simple tips made our beach trip so much fun for our little guy. He was able to play and eat without struggling. Seeing him so happy was literally everything. Hopefully these tips help your babe on your next beach trip, too!
